Why Do I Bother?

I asked Alex and Marisa to go and take a shower. They both wanted to go first. I said that I'd have to flip a coin to see who would go first since they couldn't come to an agreement on their own. So I got a coin out and asked, "Heads or tails?" They both wanted to pick 'heads'. Always thinking, I took a die out and asked, "Odd or even, whoever wins gets to pick 'heads' for the coin flip." Of course, they both wanted 'odd'. Then I got a deck of cards out and said, "High card gets to pick 'odd' for the die toss."

"I want to pick first!" (in unison) was their response.

"OK, let's flip a coin..."
