A new law in California that went into effect on January 1, 2006, makes performing body piercing on a minor punishable by a $250 fine, unless the minor's parent gives approval.
In our special election in November of last year, California voters voted down Prop 73, which would have made it mandatory for a minor to have a parent or guardian notified in the event that they wished to have an abortion.
So, it is alright for a minor to kill a baby in her womb, but one must have a parent's signature to have a belly button ring. Lucky we live in California.
